Here Are Some Other Adventure Travel Tips

Everyone enjoys an adventure. Travel tips can help you to ensure that your adventure will not be a failure, or a disaster. Here are a few adventure travel tips from others who are experienced travelers.

Before your travel, it's a good idea to make some inquiries about the country in, which you intend to travel. Is there something about the political situation in the country that you should be aware of? Is a passport required to enter the country? Possibly it would be a good idea to get the phone number of your country's embassy or consulate, just in case of an emergency.

Are you covered medically? This is one of the most important adventure travel tips that you have to take notice of, because illnesses and accidents do happen. In some countries, usually in the Third World, medical treatment is not accessible unless you can pay for it. You could be cared for at a hospital, and then be kept there until the bill is remunerated. This does really happen in foreign countries. If you do have medical coverage, how does it work? Does the insurance company pay up front, or do you have to pay and then get reimbursed later? If it is at all convenient, be sure you have funds available to handle an emergency.

When you are packed and ready to travel, be conscious of security measures that are now requisite for air travel. Don't have anything on your person or in your carry-on that could be confiscated at the airport. When you are inside the plane, pay attention to instructions about filling in the visa documents for the country you are entering. If you fail to fill out the document on the plane, you could be charged a fee for completing one when you arrive at the airport. It is also a good idea to have some US one dollar bills readily available for tipping as you go through the airport.

More experienced tourists will inform other adventure travelers to be mindful of the fact that they are in a strange place, which more than likely has different beliefs, separate rules and a different legal system. Don't break their laws, be considerate and use common sense at all times. Don't carry drugs of any kind and if you need your own prescribed meds, you need to have a letter of authorization from your doctor.

Never drink tap water, particularly in another country. Many foreign places are without clean water supply, potable drinking water must be picked up from a water filtration station or from bottled supplies, sold at stores and hotels. Do not use tap water for gargling or preparing foods, as the bacteria contained in tap water in other countries is so high that even the slightest amount can make visitors very ill.

Finally, just a couple of necessary points to remember. Mind your identity by keeping your personal papers and travel documents safe. Be careful of hawkers, peddlers and those who are touting for services. If you must go out at night, go with company and keep to well lighted areas.

By adhering to these important adventure travel tips you will thoroughly enjoy your holiday and arrive home safely.
